Welcome to the South Wales Royal Photographic Society Audio Visual Group.

It is with great regret that the South Wales RPS AV Group will be holding its final meeting on Monday 9th December 2019 at 7 o’clock in the Heath Citizens Community Lower Hall, King George V Drive East, Cardiff, CF14 4EP.

The Group was started in the late 1970s/early 1980s and is the last RPS AV Group in the UK to hold regular monthly meetings. Started by Owen Gibbs LRPS, he then asked Edgar Gibbs FRPS MPAGB AV-AFIAP to take over as the South Wales RPS AV Organiser in the 1990s. Edgar has continued to organise it to date with much appreciated help along the way from Terry and Mary O’Connell, Peter Brown, Les Charlesworth and Phil and Enid Bennion.

Audio Visual is the art form of dissolving two or more still photographic images with sound accompaniment to create a sequence which can be shown on your television or projected onto a large screen. With modern technology, the sequences are created entirely digitally on a computer, with storytelling central to the AV production.

We have a varied programme which includes evenings when we share our AV productions with each other, visiting speakers from other parts of the UK, and inter-club battles. If you are interested then please come along to one of our meetings; you would be made most welcome. You do not have to be a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
